Knowing the ins and outs of the pool-building process can help make the experience smoother, so you'll have less time worrying and more time enjoying your pool.

Get proper estimates by knowing exactly what you want
Many factors should be considered when tailoring your pool or spa and getting the most for your money. Price is determined by factors other than the size and shape of your pool. When deciding on a pool, you should consider:

  • Quality of materials
  • Professional, experienced craftsmanship
  • Design
  • Time required for construction and installation
  • Durability
  • Outstanding customer service
  • Warranties

A multitude of designs
A professional dealer will meet with you to discuss your needs and desires. Pools and spas come in a variety of designs, shapes and sizes, and with many optional features. How will you and your family use your pool? Will it be for exercise, relaxation, entertaining, or a combination of these? Where will your pool located? Our professionals are trained to ask the right questions to ensure that your pool is designed to meet your exacting needs.

Features abound
In addition to an almost endless variety of design and construction choices, today's pool owners now have options like water treatment, fiber optic lighting, decking, gazebos, landscaping, fencing and more. Your imagination is the only limit in creating the perfect atmosphere.

Location, location, location
One of the first and most important decisions you'll have to make is where to install your new pool or spa. An experienced professional will be able to help you consider the overall design of your yard and house and decide on the best spot. Builders may take photographs, make sketches or even videotape your yard to customize your project to meet your needs and budget.

Typical remodeling jobs?
The truth is there is no such thing. Like each pool owner, each project is unique. Pool professionals are experienced and knowledgeable about the latest methods, styles and options. Make sure and ask about past renovation and remodeling projects. In addition to selection and budget, verify the project schedule in writing so you can plan accordingly.

The low cost of pool ownership
Utility bills vary depending on where you live and your utility provider. Average estimates show pool owners' utility bills range between $30 and $50 per month – less than a normal fill-up at a gas station.

Maintenance is a breeze
Pool maintenance can take as little as 10 minutes a week. With today's technology, pool maintenance is simpler, safer and more cost-effective than ever before.

Should I handle routine repairs myself or contact a professional?
A well-built, well-maintained pool will last for years. But after a while, even the best care will not prevent a pool from showing signs of age. A few repairs may be all that's needed. If major work is called for, you'll probably want your contractor to help you.

Cloudy water?
There are several things that you can easily do to discover why your pool has cloudy water:

  • Check to make sure the pH levels are in proper range.
  • Check the pool filter. Clean or replace if needed.
  • Check the pool sanitizer's level. If it's low, raise the level.
  • Call us for additional help for chlorine stabilization, alkalinity, calcium hardness and heavy metals.

Test frequently
Depending on your usage, you should test the water frequently. Some users test the pH and chlorine every other day - others test once a week. During heavy usage and summer months, you can perform a daily test. And anytime you notice a change in water quality, get your test kit out and check the water quality.

When to clean, when to replace
Periodic backwashing will remove most dirt from a clean filter, however, over a period of time, grease, oils and scale can attack and build up on the elements. When this occurs, you should clean or replace your filter depending on the type of filter. NOTE: Check the filter if water is murky or water quality decreases.

Why filtration is important
Filtration is the mechanical way to remove visible matter from the water. The filter medium is designed to remove hair, dirt, tiny skin flakes, metal or calcium precipitates and other visible debris that would otherwise cause the water to be hazy and cloudy.
